Healing is for Everyone!
Does God want to heal me? Is God able to heal me?
This
is best summed up to me in John 9:35 “Jesus
went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues,
proclaiming the good news of the Kingdom and healing
every disease and sickness.”
Jesus didn’t qualify people or only heal the righteous or those that
deserved it. He didn’t pass up the tough cases. He healed because of
God’s grace and mercy. Everywhere Jesus went He showed God’s love and
power by healing, and He still does it today.
Is healing for today?
And we have more good news for you... The same way that Jesus healed in
the Bible. He still heals today. Hebrews
13:8, “Jesus Christ is the
same yesterday, today and forever”. John 20:21, “as
the father has sent me, I have also sent you”. He never stopped
sending us into the world to do the good works and healing of the
Kingdom. Finally John 14:12-13
”Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have
been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I
am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so
that the Father may be glorified in the Son.” There is no expiration
date on the power of God
Is it my timing now?
Jesus never told anyone to go away and come back at a better time to be
healed. He even healed on the Sabbath, which was the most inappropriate
time in the eyes of the religious leaders. In 2 Corinthians 6:1-4,
He says, “in the time of my favor
I heard you, and in the day of salvation, I helped you. I tell you now
is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation”.
I've been prayed for before.
Healing is not about the anointed man of God, but the Anointed God of
men. It does not matter how many times people have prayed for you, what
matters is God wants to meet you and heal you today. Lamentations 3:
21- 24, “through the Lord's
mercies we are not consumed because his compassions fail not. They are
new every morning. Great is your faithfulness. The Lord is my portion,
says my soul, therefore I hope in him
Is
God using my sickness to teach or perfect me? Does it bring him glory?
As we mentioned all who came to Christ were healed. Never was someone
refused healing because God was teaching him a lesson or building
character. God will build character through any situation in our lives.
Romans 8:28 “And we know that in all things God works for the
good of those who love Him, who have been called according to his
purpose.” He's conforming us to Jesus and he's given us the Holy Spirit
to teach us. What parents would give their children a debilitating
disease to teach her a lesson about life?
Is this sickness my identity?
Just
because you're in a certain situation doesn't mean you're supposed to
stay in it. Jesus’s model for ministry is bringing Heaven to Earth. In
Heaven there is no sickness, disease, poverty, depression. Matthew
6:9, “Your kingdom come, your
will be done, on Earth as it is in heaven”. If sickness has defined
your life, God wants to redefine you. Galatians 2:20,
“I have been crucified with
Christ, it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me, and the life
which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who
loved me and gave me himself for me”. Your identity is in Christ.
2 Corinthians 5:17,
“therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation, old things have
passed away, behold all things have become new”.
Is there a problem too big for God?
He created everything; he is all-powerful. Mark 9:23 shares the
story of a father who brings his son to Jesus for healing of seizures.
In Matthew 8:2, there is a story of a leper who came to Jesus and
said if you are willing, you can make me clean. When it comes to
Healing, one of God's names is --I am willing.
Is this God's plan? Is it for everyone?
Jesus believes in you being whole – Spirit, soul and body. He believes
in it so much that he's staked his life on it. Isaiah 53:5,
“He was pierced through for your
transgressions, crushed for your iniquities, chastised for peace to come
upon you, and by his wounds we are healed.” 1 Peter 2:24,
“and he himself bore our sins in
his body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to
righteousness, for by his stripes you were healed.” Sin is to the
soul what sickness is to the body. When Christ went to the cross he
became sin and sickness unto death so that we might live in holiness
before God. Acts 10:38,
“and you know of Jesus of Nazareth whom God Anointed with the Holy
Spirit and power, who went about doing good and healing all who are
oppressed by the devil because God was with him.” The healing does
have a cost, but it has already been paid.
Do
I have enough faith? I don't feel like I have enough faith.
Matthew 17:20
“If you have faith as small as a
mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, move from here to there, and
it will move. Nothing will
be impossible for you.” If you had the faith to come there this
morning because you believe there is a chance God will heal you, you
possess enough faith for God to move.
Do I have to do something to receive a miracle? I am just not good
enough - I brought this on myself.
Ephesians
2:8-9,
“for by Grace you have been saved
through faith and that not of yourselves, it is a gift of God not of
Works, lest anyone should boast.” Jesus never addressed people's
life decisions or sinfulness before he healed them. (John 5- a man at
the pool of Bethesda). God is not afraid of your sin. He does not see it
as an obstacle to touching you. John 3:17,
“for God did not send his son
into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through him
might be saved.” Only after their encounter with Jesus does He
correct people and say “go and sin no more.”
What can I do to open myself fully to the Lord and His miraculous
healing?
We know that Jesus is the chain breaker. Psalm 107:14
“He brought them out of darkness,
the utter darkness, and broke away their chains.” Many of us carry
chains aside from illness. There are other aspects of our lives that may
negatively impact us that we are not even aware of or have avoided.
There are certain actions or deeds we or others can do that that once
renounced can accelerate God’s movement in our lives.
It can also help you to seal and walk in your healing so that the
illness or depression doesn’t return at a later time. This is a holistic
approach to healing so that we are not just treating symptoms but
treating the mind, body, and soul together. If any of the following
sound like the might apply to you mention it to your prayer minister or
take it to the Lord yourself.
Use this as an opportunity to clean house.
Unconfessed or unrepentant sin
Our recurring unrepentant sin will continue to have negative impacts on
us. We must surround ourselves with those that are beneficial to our
faith and healing. Proverbs 13:20,
”Walk with the wise and become
wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm” If you have harmful habits
or attitudes, or associate with friends that are not life giving, these
things can have continuing consequences.
Proverbs 28:13 states “Whoever
conceals their sins does not prosper, but the one who confesses and
renounces them finds mercy.” Take some time today to let the Holy
Spirit show you areas of unconfessed sin, or strongholds of pride.
Unforgiveness
We all know the story of the servant that begs his master to forgive his
unimaginable debt. The
minute he is forgiven he finds another servant that owes him a small
debt and threatens to have him imprisoned.
When the master hears of it the first servant is punished for his
pettiness. Matthew 6:14-15 states
“For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your
heavenly Father will also forgive you.
But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not
forgive your sins.”
Take a moment during soaking prayer and ask the Lord if there is someone
you need to forgive. Listen
for His voice and use this day to wipe your ledger clean, so that God
wipe yours clean as well.
Curses
Our words have power. Not
just other’s words but our own.
Many people speak things into our lives, and some of those things
can negatively impact us.
If as a child someone has repeatedly told you that you aren’t smart
enough, strong enough, attractive enough, these things become curses to
us. If you say things over
yourself like I will never be able to make ends meet, I will always be
alone, or I will always be in pain they become curses.
These are things we would like to break off of you today. If you
believe someone may have put a deliberate curse or used witchcraft
against you tell your prayer ministers. If there are habits or
addictions from previous generations we would like to pray over those as
well. Proverbs 26:2
“Like a fluttering sparrow or a
darting swallow, an undeserved curse does not come to rest.”
Occult
If you have knowingly or even unwittingly opened a door to the enemy,
the devil will use that open door as long as he can.
We want to remove any legal ground Satan may have to harm you.
Some people are very aware that they have occult influences
because they or their family has practiced witchcraft or been part of a
satanic culture. Other influences may seem more mundane, like seeking
advice from a fortune teller or trying to contact a deceased loved one
through a medium. This will
open you up to junk mail from the enemy until you unsubscribe. Various
organizations where blood oaths are required like the Masonic Lodge can
be something that needs addressed as well. If you or your family before
you have done these things let our prayer ministers
help you close that door and seal it with the
blood of Jesus.
The Crowd
The woman with the issue of blood that grabbed the hem of Christ’s garb
knew if she just reached out and touched him, she would be healed.
She pushed and fought her way through the crowd to get her
healing. It couldn’t have
been easy with so many people, and she wasn’t allowed to be around them
because of her sickness so she had to put all her fear of man aside. She
knew the action she had to take to be healed.
Please allow the Holy Spirit today to show you what actions you
can take to claim your healing just like this woman.
