Dr. Melody Stancil is a retired public health physician. She served as a District Health Director for the State of Georgia for nearly 30 years.  She was responsible for all activities of County Health Departments and for many years was also responsible for Community Mental Health, Developmental Delay Programs, and Substance Abuse Services under the umbrella of the State of Georgia Department of Human Resources.

Melody received her M.D. from the Medical College of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, and completed a Residency in Anesthesiology at Emory University Affiliated Hospitals in Atlanta, GA.

She was involved in the healing ministry for years through the Agnes Sanford Schools of Pastoral Care, and served as a leader at numerous schools throughout the United States and Canada.  She served a term as President during the 1980’s.  She also served as a Missioner at a few OSL Conferences, although her primary work was with the Schools of Pastoral Care, which were later merged into OSL (The International Order of St Luke the Physician).

Melody was an active layperson in the Episcopal Church for many years, serving as a Senior Warden and Vestry Member as well as an elected Deputy to the General Convention of the Episcopal Church from the Diocese of Atlanta numerous times.  Because of a vocation to contemplative prayer, spirituality, and a love of the sacraments, and through the encouragement of her spiritual director, a Trappist Monk at the Monastery of the Holy Spirit in the Greater Atlanta Area, she was received into the Roman Catholic Church in 2002, where she joyfully worships.  She has an active ministry to the sick and infirm, and is very involved in her parish.

Dr Stancil is available to present at conferences where her true love is integrating prayer and forgiveness into one’s physical and mental health.  Her email address is melodystancil@windstream.net
